Shakira Provided Clarification On Social Media In Response To Many Concerned Fans Asking Her Why She Was Seen In The Ambulance.
Singer Shakira recently made an announcement that shocked her fans when she said that she and her ex-boyfriend, Gerard Pique, had decided to separate. In the midst of this separation news, Shakira also revealed that her father was in the hospital.
On Saturday (4/6), the 45-year-old singer shared on social media that her father, William Mebarak Chadid, had fallen. This clarification came when many worried fans asked him why he was seen in an ambulance. She also included a photo of herself gently kissing her father's badly bruised face.
"Guys, I got a lot of messages of concern that I was seen in an ambulance in Barcelona recently," said the "Hips Don't Lie" singer. "I just wanted to let you guys know that the photos were taken last weekend (the 28th), when my father fell and I accompanied him in the ambulance while being taken to the hospital where he is recovering now."
The Colombian-born singer previously confirmed that he and the Spanish footballer, who had been in a relationship for 11 years, had separated. Both asked for privacy for the welfare of their children.
"We regret to confirm that we are separating," the two said in a statement released by public relations firm Shakira. "For the welfare of our children, which is our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding."
Shakira, met Pique who is 10 years her junior while on the set of her music video for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," which became the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The couple now have two sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.
The confirmation came after Spanish news outlet El Periodico reported that Pique, who plays at centre-back for La Liga club Barcelona, has moved out of their family home. (wk/zodi)
