What will happen if great musicians who are loved by fans for their music and stage acts suddenly change their musical style? This of course has often happened in the world music scene.
The creative process, fan service, and even soul calling have become the background for many world musicians who have switched from their musical style. Not a few of the fans who still warmly welcome the idol to appear with a very fresh new style.
So, who are the musicians who have successfully transformed and changed their musical genre?
1. Bring Me The Horizon

When debuted in 2004, a group of young people from Sheffield who called themselves as Bring Me The Horizon succeeded in the underground market through their distorted metalcore and alternative rock music. Their emotional style of music has also successfully catapulted the name Oliver Sykes and his friends to spawn albums such as COUNT YOUR BLESSING, to SEMPITERNAL.
But slowly BMTH began to soften when they released an album titled THAT'S THE SPIRIT in 2015. Since then, Bring Me The Horizon began to show their pop side until the birth of the album AMO in 2018.
Until now, Bring Me The Horizon is still comfortable with pop-rock music and is still loved by fans. They even recently became the featured artist of Ed Sheeran in the remix song BAD HABITS.
2. Miley Cyrus

Not only from appearance, Miley Cyrus also made changes to the direction of his music. If teenage Miley Cyrus grew up in the country style of her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, maturity made the 29-year-old musician change his musical direction towards pop.
Albums such as BANGERZ in 2013 and PLASTIC HEARTS released in 2020 are certainly very different from the appearance of Miley Cyrus when she was still starring in Hannah Montana.
3. Machine Gun Kelly

Famous as a rapper, Machine Gun Kelly suddenly changed his direction and changed his music towards rock and pop-punk. Had an argument in the style of a hip-hop artist via a diss-track to Eminem, in fact Machine Gun Kelly has steadily moved to rock through the album TICKETS TO MY DOWNFALL which was released in 2020.
It's not impossible, his friendship with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and the series of films he starred in also influenced the musical style of the BAD THINGS singer with Camila Cabello.
4. Skrillex

Who would have thought that the world famous producer and DJ, Skrillex, was also a rockstar? You heard right, KLovers.
Skrillex is the frontman and vocalist of a post-hardcore band called From First To Last. The Florida band became Skrillex's first serious project in the music world before turning to electronic dance music producers. In 2017, From First To Last released a single titled MAKE WAR which explored the vocals of Sonny John Moore aka Skrillex.
5. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani has won many hit singles and music awards. The 52-year-old soloist achieved success through his pop and RnB genres.
But before that, the current Gwen Stefani is a different person when she became the vocalist for the band No Doubt. In this music project, No Doubt tends to be multi-genre by playing music with elements of pop rock, new wave, and ska. No Doubt and Gwen Stefani also had great success with the single DON'T SPEAK, which is still circulating on the radio.
Interestingly, Gwen Stefani, who is now married to Blake Shelton, has also performed several times to perform the same music as her husband, namely country.
6. Taylor Swift

In the period 2010-2012, millions of teenage girls around the world were greatly inspired by the talented young soloist named Taylor Swift. The soloist from Pennsylvania has succeeded in becoming an idol thanks to the strains of country pop music and lyrics that are relevant to the lives of teenagers. The highest music awards such as the Grammys were successfully won.
Taylor Swift, who is country wing, is slowly changing her music direction to pop, starting with the album RED in 2013. Three other albums, such as 1989, REPUTATION, and LOVER, seem to have eroded Taylor Swift's image as a country musician.
After his feud with Big Machine Records, Taylor Swift came up with two albums titled FOLKLORE and EVERMORE featuring folk music.
The changes in the musical style displayed by the musicians above are proof that every work presented will always be remembered by the fans.
