Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits he was underestimated. In contrast, the Belgian player actually broke the record for most saves in a Champions League final 19 years ago.
The last record for saves in a final came in the 2003-2004 Champions League season. As is known, Madrid managed to finish as champions of the Champions League this season. Vinicius Junior's goal in the 59th minute ensured the 14th Champions League title for the team nicknamed Los Blancos.
Courtois helped Madrid win at the Stade de France, Paris, Sunday (29/5/2022). Courtois did not seem unyielding and ups and downs to keep his goal safe from being conceded.

Courtois' action began with his save in the 16th minute. At that time, he saved Mohamed Salah's shot.
Unmitigated, Salah made three attempts in the first round. However, the hard efforts of the Liverpool star did not pay off. Followed by the efforts of Thiago in the 17th minute and Sadio Mane in the 21st minute also successfully anticipated Salah.
Salah made three more attempts in the second half. All the shots from the Egyptian player were anticipated by Courtois. Diogo Jota also witnessed Courtois' resilience when his shot was also thwarted in the 80th minute.
Thanks to that action, Courtois managed to set a new record. He became the first goalkeeper to make nine saves in a Champions League final, the most since the 2003-2004 season. /celebrities.id
