Film director Karan Johar is worried that the Bollywood industry will no longer be eyed by foreign audiences.
The reason is, Karan Johar assesses that the heyday of superstars who can lift the Bollywood industry in the eyes of the world has ended.
This golden age of Bollywood, said Karan Johar, was marked by several stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
"Magenitism, aura, mystery. I don't think the current generation has it," said Karan Johar, quoted from The Indian Express on Wednesday (15/6/2022).
Karan Johar assesses, there is an aura that radiates in every previous generation of Bollywood stars.
"By the time I was at the party, all eyes were on Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan as they passed by," he said.
Therefore, Karan Johar considered the previous generation of Bollywood stars to be able to shake the world.
"That aura everyone feels. That's power, that's stardom, fame," he continued.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar is pessimistic about the future of the Bollywood industry which is imposed on the current generation.
"This generation is not as cool as Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan who has a big aura. The current generation has some brilliant artists, but do they have that magic? I don't know I'm not so sure," he said.
