Singer and actress Lady Gaga is reportedly in the early stages of negotiations to join Joker: Folie a Deux.
Launching Hindustantimes, Wednesday (15/6/2022), a report said that the Poker Face singer was in talks for his role as Joker's partner in crime, Harley Quinn.
This was revealed after director, Todd Phillips posted a screenplay cover on Instagram on June 7, 2022. Rumors began to circulate that Harley Quinn would appear in the film.
There is also the subtitle Folie a Deux, apparently referring to the common delusional disease. In comics, animated series and several films, Harley Quinn often appears as the Joker's sole partner. The two are often described as having the same delusions.
Now, according to Variety, Lady Gaga has entered negotiations to play Harley Quinn in the film. All other information about Folie a Deux remains confidential.
So, it's still unclear whether Gaga will contribute music to the project. Although, many speculated that the star would make a contribution.
The Joker role will be played again by Joaquin Phoenix, who previously won the Best Actor Oscar for his acting. To that end, he is ready to reprise his role, even though his contract is not yet finished.
Making Joker 2 a musical in itself can be considered a bold move by the director.
The character Harley Quinn was first introduced to the critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series in the early 1990s. Since then, the character has also appeared in comics and films.
