Queen Elizabeth II will turn 70 in 2022. Therefore, a British military band will hold a performance at one of the Indonesian Islamic boarding schools, Darunnajah.

Over the years, the Darunnajah Islamic boarding school, located in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, is known to have established close relations with the British state. As a form of cultural understanding, this pesantren has exchanged a lot of knowledge with a Roman Catholic school in Yorkshire, England for the past 11 years.

Now, to celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II's throne, the British Embassy has decided to bring a British military band, the Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers, to hold a ten-song performance at the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School as a form of strengthening the ties of brotherhood.

To be held on May 30, this military band consisting of two cornets, two clarinets, one tenor saxophone, two trombones, one bass trombone, one baritone saxophone and one french horn will perform the national anthem Indonesia Raya and God Save the Queen along with some other popular songs like Havana, Wellerman, and many more.

"Hopefully this good relationship can improve the quality of our schools and our students in all education sectors," said Dr. KH Sofwan Manaf as the Leader of the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School was quoted from a press release quoted on Saturday (28/5/2022).

“Music is an international language and we hope it brings a lot of joy to the audience,” said Andy Garner, Staff Sergeant of the Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers.

This event will also be attended by Owen Jenkins as the British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste. In addition, the Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers will also enliven the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's birthday party which will be held on May 31 in Jakarta. /celebrities.id
