Real Madrid defender and captain Marcelo Vieira has confirmed that he will leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of this season. The Brazilian player made his decision after guiding Real Madrid to the 2022 Champions League champions.


As is known, Marcelo is one of the important figures for Real Madrid's back line. The 34-year-old player has been recorded as having joined Los Blancos - the nickname of Real Madrid - since the 2007 season.


Various trophies have also been presented by the frizzy-haired player. In total, Marcelo has presented 25 trophies after 15 years with the Spanish capital club.


Now, Marcelo has confirmed he will leave the club that has made his name. According to a report by Goal International on Sunday (29/5/2022), Marcelo has been confirmed to leave the club at the end of the season.


"But later, Marcelo told reporters that he would not be playing for Real Madrid, a decision that many had anticipated," Goal International reported on its website, Sunday (29/5/2022).

After the match against Liverpool in the Champions League final, Marcelo said he did not expect to win his fifth trophy. He also thanked the fans for loyally supporting Real Madrid.


“I feel great joy and emotion. It's even difficult for me to speak because I can see my family and all my teammates here," Marcelo said.


"A season like that and we deserved it, it's a strange moment in my head. I have won the Champions League five times and never would have thought that I would achieve that."
